Great Fire of London WOW Day Year 2
Year 2 were transported back to 1666 when they came back to class on Monday. Last half term we started to look at London in our Geography lessons, we learnt that it was the Capital city of England and studied some of the famous landmarks, this half term we are learning about an important event that happened in London in 1666; the great fire of London. The children started the day with a workshop with the Freshwater Theatre company. They helped a lady who had time travelled from 1666 and used their drama skills to act out life in London at that time. We learnt about where the fire started and how it spread. In class we made some items for our role play bakery and investigated clues linked to the Great Fire. The children were really interested in the topic and are excited to find out more about this topic.
"I enjoyed acting as the mayor, everyone had to bow to the king" Darcie
"I learnt that the fire started in the bakery" Lucas
