The children in Year 2 have been lucky enough to have a brand new area added to their continuous provision this term; a woodwork station!
They are loving the new woodwork area outside and have been working well to construct their various creations. The children have have already learnt how to use a range of tools including hammers, screwdrivers, a vice, spirit levels, tape measures and even saws to cut their wood!
"I didn't realise a screw you need to turn and the nails you bang! There's even two types of screwdriver." Lily O'Leary
The children know that safety is paramount when using the woodwork area and have treated it with great care and attention.
"You must wear goggles so things don't go in your eyes!" Christoper
We can't wait to see what other creations will be made this year! Watch this space!
If you have any of the following items at home, we would appreciate donations to keep the area replenished:
- wood
- screws/nails
- tools
- milk lids
- beads/buttons/corks
- old CDs
