Forest School - Group 1

This term 15 of the children in Cherry class have been going to Forest School each week at Mead. They have absolutely loved spending time in the outdoors and developed many skills. Take a look at some of the photos and what they got up to in some of their weekly sessions.

Survival challenge - What do you need to survive a night in the woods? Shelter/light/warmth/food/play/safety were our starting points today. Shelter - creative dens were made, some had bedding, others self made hammocks. Light and warmth - fires were built outside or inside the dens depending on the design. Food - leaves or rocks turned into food as did conkers and acorns (also know as marshmallows). Play - one group made a swing, another created ground art, others used rope as a skipping rope and some made their own playground.

"I loved learning how to survive in the wild, it's so cool" Sophie

"I can build a den now and tie more knots!"   Lilly

Lots of flag waving fun was had during a windy session today. Dens were popping up all over the place and several dedicated bird watchers scanned the woods with their binoculars! Just before returning to school the children made pictures of their faces on the ground to show how they had felt throughout the session. Great to see lots of smiles!

"It was really fun, I felt like I was on a mission" Alfie

This half term, the rest of the children in Cherry will be going to Forest School. Keep an eye out for their photos!
