Froest School
Walnut class had a lot of fun at Forest School this week. We were so lucky that the rain stopped for us and the wind settled. This week we focused on sticks. The children listened to the story ‘Stanley’s Stick’ which is about a little boy who uses his imagination to pretend his stick is lots of different things. All the children then found a stick.
In groups we read the poem ‘This is not a stick’ and the children use their stick to act out all the different things. The stick was lots of different objects, such as a telescope and a fishing rod.
They then thought of their own ideas. These included a drill, a broom and a lipstick.
Many of the children are hen wanted to attach wool to their stick to make fishing rods or wrap their stick using different colours. One little girl watched me attached the wool using a Clove Hitch and was very keen to learn herself. She practised lots until she mastered it, which showed great perseverance!
The children had time to explore the natural world around them before having a biscuit and a drink.
