Year 1: What We Are Learning 


Year 1 have been working really hard this week. 

 In Literacy this week the children have been writing thank you letters in role as the character Traction Man.  The children remembered the key features of a letter and they used their sentence rules. They also made thank you cards. Well done Year 1 for your hard work in Literacy!



The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. Please continue to read with your children and work on their Spellings with them. Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record Book. 

In Maths this week the children have been making their numbers to ten and twenty. They used cubes and counters to help them make their numbers to ten and twenty. Well done Year 1 for your hard work in Maths!



In History this week the children ordered correctly the key events of Florence Nightingale's life onto a timeline.



In Science the children took part in a quiz where they correctly answered questions all about Materials that they have been learning about this half term.



In PE the children took part in football competitions for National School Football week. The children designed a football shirt for the National School Football week's competition and took part in lots of fun football related activities!






Year 1 learnt all about how to stay safe online during Internet Safety Day. They made posters on how to stay safe and had a session on internet safety from the KS2 children. 




Year 1 enjoyed dressing in clothes that expressed themselves for Dress to Express Day.






Apricot class enjoyed spending time in our school Library.



Year one also enjoyed engaging in activities for Chinese New Year!




Year one enjoyed learning about Stained Glass Windows in RE.



Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
