The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. Please continue to read with your children and work on their Spellings with them. Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record Book.

In Maths this week the children used the first, next and now grids to solve addition sums. They wrote the addition number sentences. The children also used number lines to solve addition sums.

In History this week the children learnt about Florence Nightingale. They learnt that her legacy was that she highlighted the importance of hand washing. The children washed their hands using buckets and soap. They discussed the similarities and differences to how people used to wash their hands to how we wash our hands now.

In Science the children took part in a experiment and tested different materials to see if they were waterproof. They made predictions on what material would be waterproof and what materials would not.

This week Year 1 had their Stay and Learn which was all about Maths. The children showed all of their amazing Maths skills during the session. Thank you so much to all of the parents and carers who came and for all of your support.

Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
