Year 1
This week, the children created their own characters and described them. Also, they used conjunctions to link their ideas.
Aniah- Mai: ‘My character is kind and beautiful. Her name is Sophie.’
Next week, we will be writing using descriptive sentences to describe Traction Man.

Maths
This week, we have been learning how to add by making 10. This has been tricky but all the children have worked really hard.
‘ When you part 7 it is 5 and 2. Then 7 add 3 is 10. I can add ten and 5. That's 15’. - Qhaleed
Next week, we will be learning about subtraction and how there are different strategies to do this.

Design & Technology
This term, we have started our new topic ‘Moving Toys’. The children will be designing their own moving toy this and building them using cam mechanisms to move up and down.This week, the children made, trucks, cars and trains.
Jessica: “I made a train. Glued the blocks together then stuck the wheels on.”
Alana: “I glued my wooden blocks together and I used sticks and tape to hold the wheels on my car.”
Next week, the children will be making pop up toys.
Walnut Class Forest School
A frosty start to the day for Walnut class on Tuesday morning. We hunted for colours in nature, our best finds were green, brown and white ice. We did some digging and swinging, read some books and made some sticky art. We finished off with our thumbs up/middle or down reflection.
