Role Play Hairdressers

The children had shown an interest in 'hairdresser' role play so the role play corner in Pine has now transformed into a hairdressers shop. There have been lots of learning opportunities as the children have been busy writing down appointment times, checking which day of the week it is, looking after their customers and paying for their hair cuts.
Olivia told us all about how she had seen her mum work in hairdressing and reminded everyone that it was important to look after the customers well. The customers were soon provided with books to read whilst waiting and served frequent drinks during their visit. They have used the timers to ensure hair is left drying for the correct time and have used mirrors so the clients can check they are happy with their new styles. The role play corner has been popular with boys and girls but during the last week some of the boys pointed out that they really needed a barbers, we will look into developing this after half term!
