Year 1 Christmas Concert 2024

 Dear Parents & Carers,

Year 1 Christmas Celebration - Monday 9th December @ 9am & 2:15 pm

It’s the time of year when we start looking forward to our Christmas celebrations and concerts. We warmly invite parents & carers to come and join us on these occasions. 

To be able to accommodate everyone fairly this year, every child has been allotted two tickets for their concert. We ask that you bring these tickets along with you on the day and our school prefects will be ready to collect them on the door.

Year Reception: What We Are Learning w/b 18.11.24

 

Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

Reception have been working really hard this week. Our focus book was I Love The Seasons: Autumn.

Here is what we have been up to: The children have been learning all about the season Autumn, they wrote about things that they see in Autumn and made Autumn art. They used Autumn colours such as red, orange and yellow to paint the falling leaves on the tree templates. 

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. The children learnt all about Autumn and used their sound mats to write CVC words. The children wrote fox, red and nut. They also wrote the initial sounds that they could hear at the start of words such as ‘h’ for hedgehog.  Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).

In Maths this week the children have been learning their numbers to five. They worked hard to identify and make the numbers 4-5 using concrete objects. Well done for the brilliant Maths work Reception!

We have had a fantastic week of learning and there has been so much to celebrate and be proud of in Reception!

Apricot: Mir Hamin 

Mir Hamin is trying his best in every lesson. He has also been contributing in class discussions. 

Beech: Medhansh

For his fantastic work in Literacy this week. He has used exciting adjectives to describe his planet and a variety of conjunctions to join two simple sentences together. 

Walnut: Madison 

For following the three Broadford jobs as best as she can. Madison is always considerate of her peers and teachers. Fabulous keep it up!

  Star Writers 

Apricot: Nourah 

Nourah has been working hard on her handwriting. She has been keeping her letters on the line and also remembers her full stops. 

Beech: Violet

For trying really hard to form her letters and numbers correctly and using resources in the classroom to check they’re correct. 

Walnut: Ellie

For trying super hard to sound out and blend using special friends in her literacy. Fantastic, keep it up Ellie!

Learning Power Awards

These are the key skills that our children will need to learn effectively in class and to be successful later in life. 

Reciprocity

These children have shown interdependence, collaborated effectively, listened to others, displayed empathy and have imitated effective  ideas and methods from others. 

Surabhi and Sadhana for working together using junk modelling to build a house for their aliens. 

Reflectiveness 

These pupils have planned carefully, revised ideas, identified key features and can talk about their learning.

These children have demonstrated perseverance, managed distractions, noticed patterns and been absorbed in their tasks.

Emir has demonstrated resilience with his handwriting. He is fixing his mistakes independently and proofreading his writing.

For making good use of the construction area by making some exciting creations and talking about them with his peers and teachers. Great resourcefulness Ridwan!

Year 2 What We Are Learning

 
                                                
 

   Literacy

The children have been very busy designing and
making their own egg box dragons this week. They
created  colourful egg box dragons with  different
personalities. While some were dangerous
fire-breathing dragons, others had mellow personalities.

    Maths

Year 2 continued focusing on addition and
subtraction. This week we have concentrated on
adding by making 10 and adding three 1 digit
numbers together as well as adding and subtracting 1s.
They have used previous knowledge to solve addition and
subtraction problems.

Science 

This week we have been exploring wood. We looked

at the different properties of wood such as whether

it was rigid or flexible. Finally we explored which

objects would be easiest to make a flexible

structure. We chose paper!

Forest School
Mulberry class were very excited by the snow
shower this morning but it had mainly passed
before we went outside. Those wearing their
waterproofs stayed nice and dry all morning.
We enjoyed looking at worms, digging
and playing on the swing. Everyone
explored to orienteering activities - one using
the iPads and another morning our own
routes using symbols. It was quite
chilly so we had to keep moving today.
