Year One Parents
Dear Year 1 Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to highlight the importance of staying hydrated, especially during school hours. As we all know, water plays a crucial role in our overall health and well-being.
Proper hydration is essential for maintaining concentration, cognitive function, and overall performance in the classroom. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, decreased focus, and even headaches, all of which can impact your child's learning experience. By encouraging regular water intake, we can help our students stay alert, engaged, and ready to learn.
To support this, we have made efforts to provide access to water throughout the school day. We kindly ask for your assistance in reinforcing the importance of drinking water with your child at home as well. Simple habits like carrying a refillable water bottle to school and taking regular water breaks can make a significant difference in your child's health and academic success. With that in mind, please ensure you're only sending your child to school with a water bottle filled with water as this is in line with our school policy.

For her excellent effort in literacy. Maya has been writing a leaflet about how
she can help her world while ensuring she uses her best handwriting. Well done!

Kayaan has been more focused during Literacy lessons. He is expressing his ideas and working hard to write c.v.c. words independently.

Domanic wrote an amazing leaflet all about how to save our planet.
Walnut: Alexandra
For using her writing time carefully to think, plan and write what she is thinking. Alexandra is also beginning to proofread her work to correct any mistakes. Well done, keep it up!

These children have shown interdependence, collaborated effectively, listened to others, displayed empathy and have imitated effective ideas and methods from others.

These pupils have planned carefully, revised ideas, identified key features and can talk about their learning.

These children have demonstrated perseverance, managed distractions, noticed patterns and been absorbed in their tasks.
Ashlean tried really hard in Read, Write, Inc. She worked hard to fred talk and blend words.

Year 1: What We Are Learning
Year 1: What We Are Learning
Year 1 have been working really hard this week.
In Literacy this week the children read our new book for this half term Ten Things I Can Do To Help My World. The children made their own leaflets about different ways that we can help our planet.

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. Please continue to read with your children and work on their Spellings with them. Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record Book.
In Maths this week the children have been learning how to count in 2's, 5's and 10's.
In Science the children sorted pictures of different types of animals into the correct categories of either mammals, amphibians, fish, birds or reptiles.
In PSHE the children learnt about the different types of food they need to eat to have a healthy, balanced diet. They then worked in pairs to create a healthy lunchbox.
Well done Year 1 for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
