Year 2 have had a very busy first week back! This week, the children have been introduced to fractions. We began by exploring equal and unequal groups, helping the children understand how fractions are built on fairness and equal sharing.
The classes then moved on to learning about finding one half, using mathematical symbols and language to deepen their understanding of the concept. They’ve been practising identifying halves in shapes, objects, and quantities, and using the correct vocabulary to explain their thinking.
