Science Week 2025! Calling all students!

On the 10th - 15th March the children are going to be taking part in Science week. This week is lots of fun and the children have a great time exploring  and learning all about Science.

This years theme is Adapt and Change. So we are asking all children to bring a plastic bottle to complete activties and learning within their year group. If you have any extra bottles to share we would be extremely grateful.

Could all bottles please be in school the week commencing the 3rd March.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Science Team

Pine Forest School

On Tuesday 25th February, Pine class will start their second block of 5 Forest School sessions.

These sessions are led by Miss Float (Jill Jungle Owl) and Alison Shorter (Alison Ant).  Please find below a leaflet that explains/reminds you of what Forest School is all about. This leaflet was sent to all the Year 2 parents in September 2024.

The children in Year 2 are already familiar with Forest School.

As this time of year is particularly cold and wet, it is really important that the children have the correct clothing. If they are not dressed correctly and feel cold or wet, it is very uncomfortable for them and takes some of the enjoyment out of the sessions.

The children will need:
A waterproof outer layer (separate waterproof trousers and jacket or an all in one.)

Waterproof boots (welly or ski  boots.)

Warm trousers, such as jogging bottoms, to wear under their waterproofs.

A warm coat (if their waterproof layer isn’t very thick.)

Gloves, hat and scarf.

Please note that the boots, waterproofs and warm trousers will be kept in school until the five sessions are over.

Forest School sessions take place whatever the weather, so it is important the children are properly dressed, so that they can participate in and enjoy each session fully.

Many thanks for your continued support.  We are sure your children are going to be looking forward to having the opportunity to participate in Forest School again.

What we are learning- Year 1

In literacy this week, we completed our writing assessments, this was to see if we were using our capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and adjectives correctly! We then did some role play to practise performing.

In maths this week, we did our maths assessments. We looked back at our knowledge on place value within 20. We also compared measurements of different objects and using cubes. Next half term we will be looking at addition and subtraction and place value within 50!

In topic this week, we have summed up what we have learnt about Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale by taking on a quiz!

Apricot Class - Forest School

To Apricot Class parents,

After the half term, Apricot Class will taking part in their 2nd session of Forest school.

Please could parents bring in the children's waterproof clothing and footwear on a Friday. Hopefully the weather will become a little dryer but we still need to be prepared.

Any questions please Email the year 1 mailbox or speak to the adults in Apricot Class.
