Year 1 - What we have been learning

It has been Coronation week this week and the children in Year 1 have been taking part in different activities. The children have had lots of fun learning about the new King. We also saw a lot of fantastic crowns and tiaras which I am sure would look very beautiful displayed in the Tower of London.

Thank you to all the adults that are practicing the Phonic assessments that are being sent out this week. As you know, working together will bring the best out of our lovely children.

Literacy

This week in Literacy children have been focused on Time Connectives. They wrote the recycling cycle in order First, Next, After, Then and Finally. The children watched an interesting clip on how materials are separated and made into new things.

Maths

Year 1 has been learning about equal groups, Halves and quarters. They did this by folding paper and coloring different sections of shapes. We also used the example of sharing by using physical objects and sharing them between two.

Topic

Beech class enjoyed making flags for the Coronation and crowns during forest school this week.

Art

Apricot Class continued their Art projects this week. They designed a backdrop for their 3D movable people. The children are using split pins to make the different parts of the body move.

Coronation Celebration!

The children had a lovely day on Friday celebrating the King's Coronation. They enjoyed taking part in different activities, Scavenger hunt and delicious cakes.

The children all looked fantastic and patriotic in their Red, White and Blue outfits! We were all very impressed with the crowns and tiaras, lots of great ideas all fit for a King!
