Year 1 - 27th November- Celebration Certificates
Many thanks,
The Year 1 Team
Year 1 - 20th November Celebration Certificates
Well done to Charlie in Beech Class for working super hard to improve his writing. Charlie has been working hard on all areas of his learning whilst at home this week but Miss Chappel was super impressed with his letter to Santa, which he did on top of the learning that was already set. He used careful sounding out, finger spaces and worked hard on his handwriting. Keep up the great work
Many thanks,
The Year 1 Team
Year One - Friday 13th November Celebrations Certificates
Week 2's certificates
Well done to Tayla in Apricot Class, for working hard this week in maths to learn the names of 3D shapes. Tayla independently completed a pattern using 3D shapes and could talk about their properties. Keep up the good work Tayla!
Well done to Archie in Walnut Class, for modelling play in the outdoor area and sharing his ideas with other children to create a drive through restaurant. Archie encouraged the children to create the ‘secret ingredient’ that makes the food taste good and created an order system.
Well done to Peace in Beech Class for his excellent start to Broadford. Peace has created some amazing models of aircrafts out of lego and has been learning how to code a Beebot. He has been inspiring his friends to do the same.
Well done to Louis in Apricot Class, for using his imagination to write an interesting letter in character as Pattan. Louis applied his sounds and formed his letters beautifully. Well done!
Well done to Harry in Walnut Class, for using his sounds to write a letter to Kanni suggesting they build a boat with the pumpkin to save the animals from the storm. A great idea Harry, well done!
Well done to Ibukun in Apricot Class, for showing resilience in both Maths and Geography. You kept trying even when it got tricky. Great work!

Year One Home Learning- Week 2
Hello everyone!
Well done for getting through a whole week of home learning, only 3 more days to go! We have been really impressed with everyone's effort and all the examples that have been shared. As always, if you need anything you can contact us through email at:
year12@broadford.havering.sch.uk.
Google Classroom
You will find your child's Google Classroom login details on the password sheet that was emailed to you on Monday. If you are having any difficulties, please contact us on year12@broadford.havering.sch.uk with your child's name and class in the subject heading.
This week we are looking at rhyming words - two or more words that have the same or similar ending sound. To support this, there are some links on the timetable to different clips, including 'Oi Frog'.
- seven
- eight
- nine
- eleven
- twelve
Try for a total of 10
Play this math card game alone or as a team. Lay out 20 cards on the table (leave out face cards or change them to equal 0, while aces equal 1). Remove sets of cards that add up to 10, ultimately trying to remove all the cards from the table. It’s harder than you think!
It is really important that you start your day with a phonics session. Follow the links below for your video of the day!
We cannot stress enough how important reading with your child each day is. We understand that with home learning, trying to fit everything in will be a challenging task in itself. Please can we ask that you prioritise reading every day, even if its just for 10 minutes. You can use Oxford Owl Ebooks for this. The link will be emailed in your password document.
Hilldene Library are also offering a click and collect service if you need any reading books.
Year 2 Home Learning
Good morning everyone,
A big thank you to all of our parents/carers and lovely children for all of your hard work last week! We appreciate it can be challenging to work and manage learning at home and we have been really impressed with how children have found time around their adults busy day to continue their learning. There are three more days of home learning so please keep up the amazing work and we will ensure we share this with the classes when we are back. We will be available for support via phone or email (year1/2@broadford.havering.sch.uk).
If you have not already make sure you log on to Google Classroom this week. It is nice for the children to look at each others work and have some connection whilst at home. If you are having difficulties email year12@broadford.havering.sch.uk with 'Google Classroom' in the subject heading. If you are finding it difficult to manage around work you could just take a quick picture on your phone and upload at a later stage.
Click here for this week's home learning timetable. You can chose to follow it, or dip in and out as it suits you. Each day there will be a Maths, Literacy, PE, Topic and wellness session.
We loved reading your diary entries last week. This would be great to continue with remember to; use the past tense, use adjectives for details, use words to show the passing of time and don't forget those capital letters and full stops! We will share these on our literacy lessons on Thursday and Friday.
Please continue to practise the 2, 5 and 10 times tables daily and work on number bonds to 100 and 20.
This week we are learning about money, there are some videos on the timetable to support your child's learning at home. If you are finding this is a little tricky you could start with looking closely at the coins in your purse, sorting the coins and looking at ways you could use coins to pay for an item e.g. If a teddy is 6p which coins could you use? How many different ways can you make 6p? Can you record this as an addition number sentence?
