We learnt all about the special journey letters take before they arrive at our houses. We learnt that a postman with a special set of keys opens the postbox and puts the letters in a sack, these letters are collected three times a day. After collecting from all the boxes and post offices the postman drives to a mail centre. Local letters arrive to Romford at around 6pm. The postman then unloads his letters and passes them to another postman, they are then loaded into a big machine that sorts them into boxes for the next part of the their journey. Did you know the machines at Romford are nicknamed 'Del Boy' and 'Rodney'?
The children really enjoyed listening to all this information and we are looking forward to posting our own letters on our trip around Harold Hill next week. A big thank you to Grace's dad for all the interesting information he shared with us today.
