We are delighted to inform you that a trip to Barleylands has been booked for our Year 1 pupils. We will be starting an exciting new topic called ‘Scrum-diddly-umptious!’. As part of this topic, they will be visiting Barleylands and taking part in a workshop called ‘From field to fork’ on Thursday 7th July 2022.

Year 2 Forest School

Water exploration this morning with Rowan class. We made water filters to see how clean we could get the water from the school pond, the layering was very important for this task. There was floating and sinking in shallow trays and boat building in the green bucket. The boats were put through several tests including being thrown into the water and a self made tornado (as described by the children) - the children were super impressed that their boats were about to withstand these challenges. We finished off with a group challenge of transporting water along the pipes, the children increased the speed of travel by changing the height of the pipes and starting with the taller children down to the shorter ones. A packed morning for Year 2.

Chocolate planet

This week we have continued out chocolate planet project. In literacy we have been been creating eye-catching adverts for our truffles using been using interesting adjectives and persuasive language. In DT, we have been planning our designs for our truffle boxes.

History

In History we have been leanring about important activisits. We have learnt about Roasa Parks and her impact on the world and now we are looking at Malala Yousafzai and why she has been so important in her activisim. We had lots of fun creating freeze frames for the 4 main parts of her life so far.

 

Year 2 trips to Lidl

 Year 2 trips to Lidl

We are delighted to inform you that Year 2 will be taking trips to Lidl during the week beginning 04.07.22. They children will be buying the ingredients required for their chocolate truffle project, after calculating the costs in their maths lessons. We feel that this will be a fantastic opportunity for the children to apply their knowledge of money in a real world situation. The children will be walking to Lidl in groups throughout the week, accompanied by the Year 2 team. Class teachers can inform you of the day that your child's group will be attending if you wish.
