Sports Day In Cherry

 

A huge well done to all of the children for a fabulous morning of running, jumping, balancing and throwing! They all took part with massive smiles on their faces and supported each other throughout.

A Royal Birthday

Year One celebrated the Queen's birthday with a Royal tea party! All the children were treated to cakes and biscuits in celebration of this national event. The children also watched a video about the life and times of our Queen and discovered how she has changed over time. The children were fascinated to hear about her family, her role as our monarch and to see the impact she has on our country. They enjoyed watching her coronation and snippets of her past speeches.

We're going to the Zoo!

On 16th June, Year 1 were fortunate enough to visit Colchester Zoo. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip! As part of the trip, the children enjoyed lots of new experiences, such as, feeding giraffes, feeding elephants and stroking horses. The children also saw lots of animals they had never seen before: Meerkats, Red Pandas, Arctic Foxes and Giant Turtles!

The children got to enjoy seeing lots of animals out playing in the sunshine and learned about all the magnificent animals we have in our world. We also walked through an underwater tunnel (24m long!), went to a giant playground, fed lots of new and exciting animals, listened to the fact-finding talk at the monkey enclosure and walked around a farm. We also walked through the butterfly glade, saw the new bear enclosure and wandered through the 'tropics', which housed a large group of lorikeets.

Rock Star Awards

Well done to these fabulous mathematicians who have managed to complete all 13 sheets of the Rockstar times tables in Year 2. They have demonstrated outstanding tenacity and resilience to ensure they continued making progress. At times, the children were stuck on a particular sheet for weeks but they did not let this phase them and understood that small steps of improvement eventually lead to great things. 

I remember being stuck on sheet 4 for about a month before I moved on! Alex

I found all of the sheets past 6 challenging, 5 was my favourite because it was just multiplication. The fraction ones are hard! Tyler 

Queen Elizabeth's Birthday Celebrations In Year 2

We had a brilliant turn out of red, white and blue on Friday to mark Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday. The children in year 2 had a superb time celebrating; we danced, waved flags and ate party food to honour our Queen. We even learnt the nation anthem and had a go at singing it for her majesty! 

I love the national anthem. They sing it at football too! Conner Holloway
