Isabelle and Bonnie: Stars In The Making!

Isabelle and Bonnie have left Cherry class in awe of their personal achievements this week. Both of the girls have received awards for their extra-curricular activities outside of School and shared them with the class.

 

The fabulous Isabelle earned her proficiency Level 3 award for her outstanding gymnastics. While Bonnie has been awarded medals for her brilliant dancing.

 

I (Miss Estall) have been lucky enough to witness these skills first hand this week! I was astounded (and slightly jealous) by Isabelle's bendy moves in PE and then had the pleasure of seeing Bonnie's famous moves during just dance time!

Year 2 Star Writers

Hooray for Lewis and Charlie! They are our Star Writers this week in Year 2! The boys have impressed their teachers this week by planning their own stories based on Christopher Columbus. They used a number of adjectives to describe their settings and worked hard to punctuate their work correctly!

 

Well done boys, your hard work has meant you truly are Star Writers!

 

 

 

 

Year 2 Star Writers

Well done to all of these amazing Star Writers! We have been very busy in our writing over the last few weeks in Year 2. Between them, these Star Writers have written information texts, Fairy Tales and even Newspaper reports! WOW!

For various reasons, some children missed the opportunity to have their photo taken on the week they were awarded Star Writer; so here they are now in all of their marvellous glory!

KS1 Maths Challenge

Cedar's Authors!

Congratulations to Ruben, Jessica, Joshua, Maisy and Hayden who all took part in the Young Writers 'Crazy Creatures' Competition. All the children wrote fantastic stories about their Crazy Creatures. They have been selected as winners of the competition and received certificates and bookmarks for their accomplishment. Not only that, but the children's stories are going to be published along side each other in a book! The children came into school this morning so eager to tell the class the news. Cedar class and Miss Rollin are very proud of our five authors and can't wait to read their book!

Grace Gets Inspired!

This morning Grace Leadbitter visited her old Year 2 class, Cedar, to show Miss Rollin a picture of her latest achievement! After having a year of Miss Rollin going on and on about hockey; telling the class about her weekly matches, discussing games, training sessions and other hockey related stories, Grace is now playing hockey herself! She brought in a picture of herself playing hockey with her team - she even has the same shoes as Miss Rollin! 

Thank you so much for bringing the picture in to show me Grace, it makes me very happy to know you find the same pleasure as me in the sport - I look foreword to hearing more about your hockey achievements! 

Year 2 World Book Day

The children in Year 2 have had a very exciting World Book Day. The day began with the reveal of all the children's wonderful outfits that celebrated their favourite characters from their favourite books. 

Well done to our costume winners:

Cedar

Ruben - for a tremendous Cat in the Hat outfit! 

Florence - for a fantastic effort being Harry and his bucket of Dinousaurs. Florence brought the book to show the children and her outfit was exactly the same as Harry's, she even had the correct coloured bucket! 

I really like how Ruben is dressed exactly like the Cat in the Hat. Joe

Vinnie O'Leary: for his amazing home made James and the Giant Peach creation. 

Bayleigh Parsons : for her uncanny portrayal of Dobby! 

I'm sure you'll agree all of the costumes were great today! 

Next the children had to find Wally. Mrs Nicholls and Miss Sparkes had been very busy hiding Wally and his friends all around the school. The children searched high and low for each character, eventually they managed to find them all. The last character to be found was Odlaw who was half way up a tree!

To end the day the children in Year Two were lucky enough to have a special visit from the author Dennis Bond. Dennis taught the children all about the ins and outs of writing a book, he showed them his drafts and his final pieces. The children loved finding out about all the publication steps and how his books were illustrated. Finally, they loved hearing his wonderful stories. 

You need a big imagination to write a book like Dennis'. Bonnie
