World book day fun in Cedar

We had a fabulous selection of book characters in cedar today; Horrid Henry, Dorothy, cats, and a variety of princesses and superheroes.

" My favourite book is the wizard of Oz " said Gracee-May " the other characters are scarecrow, tin man and lion" 

" I love Mulan" Jessica said " she wears beautiful clothes and is my favourite story "

The best costume goes to Sydney Griffiths for her fantastic Gangster Granny costume. Well done Sydney! 

Cycle Awareness Day

Year 1 have been learning about cycling safety on their Cycle Awareness Day. The children learnt about how to best use their bikes and scooters, discussing the use of correctly fitted helmets, lights and high visibility clothing. The children all had a chance to practice their skills by riding around courses marked with cones. The children supported and encouraged each other and our most nervous riders learned that so long as they 'try, try, try- they can, can, can!' A brilliant morning had by all, the children were eager to get back on their bikes to continue everything they have learned.

Cherry Class Step, Step, Step!

Cherry class did an amazing job this afternoon when completing their steps in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital. They refused to give up and continued stepping for the full 15 minutes!

 

 

World Book Day

Wow! We have had lots of outstanding costumes arrive in Cherry class this morning. The children have well and truly upped their game this year! Take a look...

Year 2 Learning Challenge.

The children in Year 2 received their Learning Challenge last week. Impressively, in Cherry class we have already had some completed elements brought in! We now look forward to seeing anymore of the children's work; keep it coming!
Remember, if the children complete elements of their Learning Challenge they will be rewarded with  a certificate in Friday's assembly.

Cherry Class Cycle Awareness Day

Cherry class were taught many valuable lessons yesterday on their cycle awareness afternoon.

The children rode their bikes and scooters around a variety of obstacles ensuring they could maintain control and use their breaks appropriately.

In addition, they were taught about the importance of high visibility clothing when riding and vitally, how to fit helmets correctly.

Cherry class have been on a Brunel fact hunt!

Today, year 2 have been applying their geographical skills by using a map to find clues around the school grounds.

In each location on the map, they found a particular question that they needed to independently research about Brunel ( year 2's significant historical figure this term).

By firstly applying their map reading skills, then by using their historical research skills, they were able to find out some fascinating information all about Brunel.

"I now know Brunel's mum is called Sophia!" Jaydon, Cherry.
