Cherry in PE.

Today the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork in PE. They were asked to pass three hoops around the circle without letting go of their partners hand. At first there were a few tangles; but with great resilience the children proved they can overcome a problem. Soon enough they were passing the hoops at an impressive pace!

Maisie Moss - Project Superstar!!

Maisie Moss wowed us all with an incredible fruit face she made at home and brought to school this morning! Her fruit face had fantastic green grape hair, juicy orange shoulders and a smiley banana mouth!
She was inspired by the artist we are studying in Year One this term - Guiseppe Arcimboldo.
Fantastic job Maisie, we are so impressed by your effort to continue your learning at home.

What's That Smell?

Year One have started learning about senses in science. This week we concentrated on learning about our sense of smell. We spoke about different smells - some that we don't like and some that we really like (including the smell of McDonalds, which proved a real favourite!).

We did a particularly smelly practical activity which involved making scent pots of our own. Some smelled delicious - including a chocolate scent pot! Some, like the onion scent pot, were quite revolting.

Quiz your child at home and see if they can remember their five senses!

Rockstar maths!

As we speak Cherry class are powering through their Rock-star maths. They have settled in great and love the challenge of ploughing through the different sheets!

Yesterday Libby, Henry and Haliya completed their first sheet with 100% and are now on their second! I wonder if they've managed to make it 2 in a row!

Year One Outdoor Learning

The Year One children have been spending time learning in their new outdoor area, enjoying the last of the sunshine.

Some of the children decided to make a house made of wood for one of the three little pigs. The boys worked together, showing excellent teamwork and resilience. They were able to measure the house so it was big enough for all of them to climb inside.

They were very pleased with the finished house, and hid inside from the big bad wolf!

Year One Spellings

Yesterday all Year One children received their homework books with this week's spellings inside.

We ask that you help your child practice spelling and writing these words every evening this week. We will have a spelling test on Friday morning.

Please ensure your child brings their red book back to school on Friday - we keep track of the children who bring back their books and if your child remembers every week in a half term their name is entered into a draw for a special treat from Mr Drakes!

Thank you!

Super Science

Cedar started their new topic about plants today. They explored the school grounds looking for different plants, observing similarities and differences. They then wrote some questions that they would like to find out about plants in their science books. Questions included; Can plants live in water? Do all plants have flowers? How do cactuses live in the desert? Have different plants got different roots?

We look forward to investigating and finding out the answers to these questions.
