Brandina Day!

Brandina Day!

This Wednesday the School Council hosted a fundraising day for Brandina.  The children came to school dressed in one of the colours that represent the Ugandan flag - red, yellow or black.  The children helped to raise money for the charity that we support, Watato.

The children took part in some Ugandan dancing in the afternoon and had fun learning lots of new dance moves.
Thank you to everyone who took part!

Our School Litter March!

Our School Litter March!

This week the whole school took part in a Litter March to remind children of the importance of putting their litter in a bin.

Throughout the week, each class spent 20 minutes collecting litter from the outside environment around the school.

Year 5 took part in their own litter march around the local area.

The School Council organised the event and the whole school enjoyed litter picking - thank you to everyone who took part!

Egg-static about the Easter Bunny in Year One!

Pine Class were lucky enough to receive a visit from the Easter Bunny this week, ahead of the Easter break. The children arrived in the classroom after to lunch to find a note from the Easter Bunny and the first clue to an Easter egg hunt! Pine class were eager to get going and start hunting for the clues in hope of finding a special treat.

The children showed great reciprocity skills in solving the clues and working together to search the outside area. The clues eventually led them to the fire pit at the end of the trail where there was a basket of delicious Easter treats for everyone!

The basket was brought back to class and chocolate eggs, bunnies and chicks were enjoyed by all.

After all of the egg-citement, the children decided to write some letters to the Easter Bunny to thank them for the chocolate they left. They applied their skills they have been learning in phonics and literacy and produced some egg-cellent writing. We left the letters in Pine class hoping that the Easter Bunny would return to collect them.

'I can't believe what has happened!' - Luke
' We wear goggles in the woodwork area!' - Zoe
'Let's say thank you to the Easter Bunny' - Anna

We will be going on Wednesday 10th April (weather permitting) however, if the weather is unfavourable we shall push the outing to after the holidays.

As this is a trip within the local area we shall not require any parent volunteers, however thank you to those who have offered help.

Dear Parents of Year One and Two,

Our Parents' Evening appointment slips will be sent home on Wednesday. We look forward to catching up with you all  on either Monday or Tuesday.

I'd like to take this opportunity to send a gentle reminder about our morning routine. Our teaching day with the children begins at 8:30am. We appreciate that on some occasions you may need to pass information onto your class teacher. Every morning there are six members of staff located at different points of the entrance (outside school, the path, KS1 and KS2 door). Any messages for your child's teacher can be left with these adults and it will be passed on that day. Alternatively, please book a meeting with the school office to speak to the class teacher at an allotted time. We also have an open door policy at the end of the day where we are more than happy to speak to any parents/carers once we have dismissed all of the class.

We kindly request that parents, do not bring your child/children down to the classrooms in the morning - this is in order to keep them safe and ensure there are no distractions during lessons/ activity time.

We appreciate your co-operation with this.
