Planting in Cherry class
After potting our tomatoe plant seeds a few weeks ago it was now time to take them outside and plant them in the year 2 flower beds. Firstly we discussed how deep and wide we would need to dig the holes, then how we had to place the new shoots into the holes carefully and push the soil around them to ensure they had a secure anchor.
Year 2 Music Festival.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their morning yesterday at Hilldene School. Along with many other Schools in Harold Hill they sang a variety of songs including a Broadford solo of 'Lets go fly a Kite'.
Building Bridges!
Yesterday in Cherry class we all became engineers! After researching the life of Isambard Kingdom Brunel we were inspired to have a go at making our own bridges in the construction area. It was fascinating to see how the children tackled the challenge in various ways, with a selection of materials. To add extra pressure the children needed to ensure their bridge crossed Miss Estall's river!
Reciprocity, resilience, resourcefulness and reflectivness was evident throughout the challenge, well done Cherry!
Matthew went for the Lego as his choice of material.

Maths challenge - how many ways?
Using the numbers, 2,4,6,8, and the symbols +,= and -, the children were challenged to see how many different calculations they could come up with. Are you able to use all the numbers and symbols to create one calculation?

The Cutty Sark.
Cherry class had a fantastic time at the Cutty Sark yesterday. We found out lots about the life of a sailor and many facts about sailing boats. I wonder if the children can tell you the name for the left, right, front and back of the boat...
Take a look at some of our photos.
