Please click on the link below to confirm your child is able to attend the Year One trip Barleylands:

Dear Parents,

Year 1 pupils have started an exciting new topic called ‘Scrum-diddly-umptious!’.
As part of this topic, they will be visiting Barleylands and taking part in a workshop called ‘From field to fork’ on Monday 15th July 2019.
The children will be travelling by coach and will need to arrive in school promptly at 8:30am. We will be leaving school at 9:00am. The children must wear school uniform.
They need to  bring a packed lunch in a named disposable bag; this should not include fizzy drinks or glass bottles. We will be leaving Barleylands at 2:00pm and will return for the end of school. The children will need to be collected from outside their classrooms as normal. Should we get delayed on the return journey we will contact the school office and inform them of our new time of arrival.
We are asking for a contribution of £10 which will go towards the cost of the coach and the workshop the children will be attending. Below are the prices for the day:
Barlelylands Child ticket- £11:50 per child
Cost of coach- £709
The £10 contribution will be automatically added to your ‘Squid’ account. Any questions regarding this payment, please see the school office.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Chappel Miss Davis Miss Hurrell

Year 2 go to see Aladdin!

Year 2 go to see Aladdin!

On Thursday, Year 2 had an amazing trip to the cinema to see Aladdin. There was much excitement leading up to the big day for both staff and pupils!
We left school just after 9 o' clock, for our walk to the bus stop, which included lots of chatter and singing.
Once we arrived at the cinema, we were taken through to our very own screening of Aladdin, this caused even more excitement as the children eagerly chose their seats.
By 10 0 clock, we were all ready to watch the film and the children quickly munched their way through the popcorn!
Soon it was time to collect our things and make our way to have lunch. After we had finished eating, we made our way back to the bus stop, to return to school. It was an excellent day and all of the children had an amazing time.

'It was the best film ever' - Lukas

'My favourite part was when Aladdin and Jasmine were on the carpet' - Laura

Health Week in Year 2!

Health Week in Year 2!

Year 2 had lots of fun during health week. We learnt all about how to stay healthy in both our minds and bodies, through yoga and exercise, healthy eating and how to use mindfulness techniques.

All of the children took part in different activities throughout the week, but one that they found particularly beneficial was role playing different scenarios with their friends and then working collaboratively as a class to solve feelings that may arise. We learnt how people react differently to the same things and explored techniques to help us deal with varying emotions.

'When I get angry, I can try taking deep breaths and sitting alone for 20 seconds.' - Thomas

'If I feel nervous or anxious my tummy can feel funny and I can tell an adult or talk to my friend.' - Lukas
