Pine Class at The Discover Centre!

Pine Class at The Discover Centre!

On Tuesday, Pine Class were lucky enough to take a trip to the Discover Children's Story Centre in Stratford.

After arriving at school very excited, Pine class set off for the train to Stratford. The children loved travelling on both the overground and the DLR and were reading the train maps looking for stations along the way.

When we arrived, the children were transported into a story world based on Judith Kerr's books. There were lots of exciting things to see based on some of our favourite books to read in class including The Tiger That Came To Tea and Mog. After hearing the story of the Tiger That Came To Tea, the children had lots of fun exploring the props and costumes from the stories.

After lunch, Pine Class created their own character for a story - Donut the Dragon! They thought about how we could describe different animals and how they would move. Last but certainly not least, it was time to head outside for some fun in the park! The sun was shining for us which made great weather for swinging, climbing and sliding.

What a fantastic day of story telling!

Year 2 Performance Poetry

The children in Year 2 have been super busy this week, planning and performing the poem, ‘The Boneyard Rap’ by Wes Magee.
They began the week by listening to and watching others performances of the poem, then the moved on to learning the poem of by heart so that the were able to recite it.

The children worked in small groups to each perform a different stanza of the poem and then they came together towards the end of the week, to perform the whole poem as a class.

It was lovely to watch the children take ownership of their learning and perform in front of the other children.

This is my favourite poem ever - Tiffany

I like performing the poem and doing the actions - Ife
