Healthy Eating Week In Cherry

What a marvellous week in Cherry class! As part of healthy eating week the children have immersed themselves in all things fit and healthy!

Did you know? Over 60% of adults in the UK are overweight or obese which increases the risk of getting type 2 diabetes, heart disease and some cancers. Physical activity can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke and help maintain a healthy weight. Nutrition.org

So what better reason for the children to focus their attention on the importance of a healthy diet and regular exercise. As a result of their learning the children decided we would start each day with a lap of the field and a mini work-out in the gym. This proved very popular as the children and Miss Estall  found themselves energised and ready for the day ahead.

To top it off, the children ended the week by having a healthy breakfast in class. They used the Sugar Smart App to scan various cereals to check for sugar content.

The children proved they are true health warriors as they tucked into their healthy breakfasts. They opted for skimmed milk or 0% fat yoghurt and replaced sugar for honey. 25 children out of 31 had never tried honey on their cereal but the feedback was great with all the children saying they liked the honey and would eat it again. What a great outcome!
