Maths Superstars
Look at some of the really tricky maths work these children have been trying. They have been using blank number lines to solve subtraction problems. It has involved using addition to work out subtraction, reading two- digit numbers and counting mentally, although this was challenging they showed great resilience. Well done to our maths superstars!
Circus Day Recounts
After an inspiring circus skills session the children were keen to write all about their experiences. From their recounts it is clear they had a fantastic time with Doody the clown.

Weekend Work
These children have been very creative over the weekend. William has made a beautiful circus poster, Alisha has created her own space world and after reading 'Pirates love underpants' Freddie made and decorated his own underpants!

Fun at the Circus
We had great fun learning circus skills with Doody the clown today. The children are now experts at plate spinning, balancing feathers and ribbon twirling. There were even some enthusiastic parents who stayed to learn circus skills after school!
Plate spinning was difficult at first, but we showed resilience and kept on trying until we could do it!
We made lots of circular shapes using the ribbons. It was funny when some people got tangled up. We also had to undo lots of knots at the end.
Cedar class are fantastic at balancing feathers on their hands. We found it much harder to balance the feathers on our noses.
We found plate spinning much harder, but after several attempts it became easier.
Using the ribbons was great fun and we were able to make lots of different patterns with them.
Mulberry class had great fun trying to balance feathers on different parts of their bodies. We balanced colourful peacock feathers on our hands, fingers, chins and elbows.

Toys when you were young.
What toys did you play with when you were young?
Be prepared to be interviewed by your son or daughter as part of our topic on toys. They need to find out how toys have changed over the years so will be asking you what you played with when you were their age. They will be interviewing grandparents too. What was your favourite toy?

Taking Learning Outside
Key stage 1 have been very fortunate to have a lovely new canopy built over Pine and Mulberry class allowing us to get outside in all weathers. This week the children have been busy creating coloured ice sculptures, mixing and measuring witches potions, performing the story of Cinderella and writing on our large outside whiteboards.

Teddy Bear's Picnic
On the first day of term Pine class found a teddy bear sitting outside the classroom. He looked very cold so we took him inside and read the letter he had with him. After reading the letter we discovered teddy was lost so we decided to look after him until his owners could come to the rescue.
We used our adjectives to create wanted posters for the teddy bear and when nobody came to the rescue we even made maps of the school so he could find his way around.
As teddy was still lost we decided the best way to cheer him up was to throw him a teddy bears picnic! We wrote invitations to our own teddy bears, designed and created sandwiches for the picnic and learnt the teddy bear's picnic song. On Friday all of our teddy bears came to school to join in the fun. Everyone had a great time eating sandwiches, playing games and singing songs.
